Measurements:
Measure the person while seated in their wheelchair. You will need to measure height (from the floor to the top of their head or head rest), length and width of the chair.

This is a 2009 Toyota Porte Welcab with a battery powered transfer wheelchair with dual power controls. It has a stunning jasper pearl (light green) exterior and tasteful interior - cream beige material seats with a gold and brown fleck. The chair then detaches for use and the person literally can drive away. There are hand controls on both the wheelchair itself for the passenger as well as additional controls at the rear of the chair for the carer should they be required.
When re-entering the car, the wheelchair is simply positioned onto the extended electric arm which then raises the wheelchair back into the car, and turns 90 degrees to return the chair to the correct position.
The passenger wheelchair seat is especially clever and warrants further elaboration. It’s a fully autonomous power wheelchair with up to 4.5km’s travel distance on a single charge.

2018 TOYOTA HIACE COMMUTER

This 2018 4WD diesel Toyota Hiace Commuter Welcab. It has a power wheelchair hoist in the rear and is really in excellent condition. With only 60,000 km on the clock it is the perfect vehicle for anyone wanting to transport a larger group of people. It has just arrived from Japan. If you’re looking for a durable and reliable car to transport a maximum of 7 plus 2 wheelchairs then look no further. This van has been manufactured in the Toyota factory as a wheelchair accessible vehicle so the suspension for the wheelchair participant is gentle and smooth and the hoist is made to fit this particular vehicle.
All our Hiaces come with dual airbags and come with a VSCCS (Engineers certificate) for the wheelchair positions.
We add wheelchair restraint system to comply with ADRs. Please be aware of people selling these vehicles without dual airbags and engineers certificate
Safety handrails for wheelchair occupants and double seatbelts ensure passengers are looked after in the rear of the vehicle. There are also handrails for the second row seats as well as power windows A/C, airbags, central locking and child restraints.
Toyota Hiace Wheelchair Feature
The wheelchair accessible features on the Hiace were designed and engineered in the Toyota factory. It was fitted with an easy to use power operated wheelchair hoist and facilitates a simple powered entry, a smooth ride and excellent vision for the wheelchair passenger. It has a large lift capacity of 250 kg so is able to lift the heaviest wheelchairs and passengers.
Integrity have fitted ADR Compliant QRT -1 Series Q Straints to both wheelchair positions. One on the hoist and one in the interior of the vehicle. Both positions have 4 securement point Q Straints - 2 in front and 2 in the back of the wheelchair. Both positions also have lap and shoulder belts. Please see the photos above which show the interior and Q Straints.
In our opinion the standards, vehicle knowledge and manufacturing quality of Toyota Welcabs are excellent with regards to rear ramps, hoists and suspension. That coupled with the easy to use quick lock Q Straints which are fastened into the vehicles when they arrive in Australia makes for a perfect solution for Australian families and businesses looking for a cost effective transport solution.
About the Toyota Hiace Commuter
Not surprisingly the Hiace is one of the top 3 selling commercial vans in our market. It is a trusted choice by many Australians because they know that Toyota enjoy the reputation of building the most durable and reliable vehicles in the world today.
The Hiace has been around since the 1960s and this van is its 5th generation so it has been upgraded and improved upon through all those years. They come in short, long wheelbase, petrol and diesel with an enclosed and panelled rear or windows all around and rear window opening and closing features.

This van has been manufactured in the Toyota factory as a wheelchair accessible vehicle so the suspension for the wheelchair participant is gentle and smooth and the hoist is made to fit this particular vehicle.
All our Hiaces come with dual airbags and come with a VSCCS (Engineers certificate) for the wheelchair positions.
We add wheelchair restraint system to comply with ADRs. Please be aware of people selling these vehicles without dual airbags and engineers certificate
Safety handrails for wheelchair occupants and double seatbelts ensure passengers are looked after in the rear of the vehicle. There are also handrails for the second row seats as well as power windows A/C, airbags, central locking and child restraints.
Toyota Hiace Wheelchair Feature
The wheelchair accessible features on the Hiace were designed and engineered in the Toyota factory. It was fitted with an easy to use power operated wheelchair hoist and facilitates a simple powered entry, a smooth ride and excellent vision for the wheelchair passenger. It has a large lift capacity of 250 kg so is able to lift the heaviest wheelchairs and passengers.
Integrity have fitted ADR Compliant QRT -1 Series Q Straints to both wheelchair positions. One on the hoist and one in the interior of the vehicle. Both positions have 4 securement point Q Straints - 2 in front and 2 in the back of the wheelchair. Both positions also have lap and shoulder belts. Please see the photos above which show the interior and Q Straints.
In our opinion the standards, vehicle knowledge and manufacturing quality of Toyota Welcabs are excellent with regards to rear ramps, hoists and suspension. The Toyota Porte has quickly become our most popular compact wheelchair access car. The engineering in the Porte is incredible – this self-drive - even more so.
What’s really cool is the large sliding door on the passenger side. It makes transferring in and out of the car a breeze. Add to that the compact size, great overall visibility, ease of use and excellent economy, it’s an excellent choice. It’s the perfect size for 2 passengers plus the person in a wheelchair.
Wheelchair Features
Without exception, clients are amazed the first time they witness the incredible engineering of the Toyota Porte – and this one is even more exceptional.
This car has an OEM power wheelchair fitted into the driver’s seat. At the push of a button the driver’s seat moves into the correct position which then enables it to move sideways towards the passenger door. The chair then rotates 90 degrees so that it now faces outside. The arm then lowers the chair to the ground.
The wheelchair passenger can detach from the ‘arm’ on which it sits by using the toggle on the arm of the power chair to move forward. The chair is powered by a battery source at the back of the chair. This battery enables the chair to travel an incredible 4.5km. That gives you more than enough power to head to the mall, to the beach, or as many of our clients have told us – a car like one of these has allowed them to go back to work.
When re-entering the car, the wheelchair is simply positioned onto the extended electric arm which then raises the wheelchair back into the car. turns 90 degrees to return the chair to the correct position and enable it to slide back to the drivers position again.

The Welcab (wheelchair vehicle) feature has a rear wheelchair spot with electric restraints that winch the wheelchair into the car - check out the pictures above to see the OEM Original Equipment Manufactured belts and winch systems in action. It is a full size interior which supports 2 wheelchairs with 3 seats or 7 seats when the wheelchair spot in the rear is not being used.
The passengers have not been neglected - the front passenger seat is a recliner with a foot rest so you can truly relax on those long highway trips. The driver's seat has electric memory which moves upwards, downwards, forward and back - so you can find that perfectly comfortable driving position. The rear seats stow on the sides of the rear of the vehicle if not needed or if they are required they easily lower and lock into the car floor. Toyota Vellfire Wheelchair Feature
The rear of the Vellfire has an aluminium ramp which is operated by a corded controller positioned in a cradle in the rear left side of the vehicle. Press the controller and the ramp extends out. At the same time the rear of the vehicle hydraulically lowers to create a low gradient for the wheelchair to be able to access.
In this Vellfire the rear wheelchair position has an OEM Winch where the belts can extend out of the vehicle and pull the wheelchair into the vehicle. We have installed rear Q Straints to meet Australian Design Rules and can custom fit the position of the front Q Straints so that they fit your particular wheelchair.
