2006 Toyota Porte

Stock # 831
$24,800
This is a battery powered transfer wheelchair 2006 Toyota Porte. It has a stunning metallic bronze exterior and tasteful interior - cream beige material seats with a gold and brown fleck. A cream and black dash with woodgrain completes what is quite a stylish and individual look which is synonymous with our understanding of the Porte designs.

It's a lovely little car, perfect for a couple where one has a little trouble walking but want to get out and about with their partner in the drivers seat.

About This Car

The Toyota Porte has quickly become our most popular compact wheelchair access car because, according to customer feedback, clients can actually travel in the front passenger seat with the driver beside them. They feel connected rather than being chauffeured in the rear of a larger people mover - which for many are the stereotypical wheelchair vehicles on offer.

What’s really cool is the large sliding door on the passenger side. It makes transferring in and out of the car a breeze. Add to that the compact size, great overall visibility, ease of use and excellent economy, and it's easy to see why it’s an excellent choice and bigger isn't always better.

It’s the perfect size for up to 4 passengers plus the person in a wheelchair.

Wheelchair Accessible Feature

Without exception, customers are amazed the first time they witness the incredible engineering of the Toyota Porte wheelchair feature. It has a battery powered luxury wheelchair (which comes with the car). It sits on an electric arm which rotates and lowers the wheelchair out of the car.

The chair then detaches for use and the person literally can drive away. There are hand controls on both the wheelchair itself for the passenger as well as additional controls at the rear of the chair for the carer should they be required.

When re-entering the car, the wheelchair is simply positioned onto the extended electric arm which then raises the wheelchair back into the car, and turns 90 degrees to return the chair to the correct position.

The passenger wheelchair seat is especially clever and warrants further elaboration. It’s a fully autonomous power wheelchair with up to 4.5km’s travel distance on a single charge.

More About The Toyota Porte

As mentioned before this wheelchair vehicle is all about the passenger door. In case your French is a little rusty, 'porte' is logically French for 'door'.

The powered passenger door opens to a remarkable 1165mm tall and 1020mm wide making it an excellent size for a wheelchair. Until we saw our first Toyota Porte we couldn’t believe how much access you genuinely get with this intelligently designed sliding door.

There is a staggering overall internal height of 1380mm. This is due to the cleverly designed flat floor and higher roofline for the factory wheelchair access versions. Rather than looking like an afterthought, you probably would never have noticed the higher roof because it is so well done and disguised in the overall car design.

There is a very handy boot space and the rear seat can easily fold down to provide even more space if required. Perfect for a weekend away on a shopping spree (if you're that lucky!).

For the frugal ones among you, the penny pinchers, the bargain hunters, you’ll love to know that the car operates at only 8.9L/ 100km. Arguably the most fuel efficient wheelchair access car on the market today.

We have the biggest range in Australia of Toyota Welcab and Nissan Lifecare wheelchair and mobility vehicles available for inspection or test drive so please feel free to pop down and check out this fantastic wheelchair car for yourself.

2007 Toyota Alphard

Stock # 827
$39,800
A 2007 pearl white Toyota Alphard Welcab with the very rare and hard to find dual accessibility features at an affordable price like this one. This disability car won't be here long! The front passenger seat is a transfer chair that sits on an electric turntable that turns the chair and extends it out of the car (see pictures above). The rear of the Alphard lowers hydraulically and the ramp folds out onto the ground to allow a reduced and safe incline for the wheelchair to enter the car (Sloper). Travelled just 79,500 km, the Alphard will give you years of trouble free motoring.

Remember – these Welcabs (wheelchair vehicles) are made in the Toyota factory in Japan and built to carry wheelchair passengers so the suspension and interior accessibility fitout is exceptional. Feedback from wheelchair passengers is that they are impressed with how comfortable it is to ride inside the vehicle.

The dual option of this Alphard allows great flexibility for the wheelchair passenger. If the passenger can stand or have good upper strength they can easily transfer into the front seat while their wheelchair is safely stowed in the rear or they can sit in the rear on their wheelchair. Also it is easy to transfer down - so from wheelchair down to the passenger seat and vice versa.

It also offers a further option - if you need a wheelchair space and also have a family member that finds it difficult to get in and out of a car then this car will satisfy both needs.

About the Alphard

These cars were designed with ease of use and comfort in mind. It has exceptional handling stability and a roomy interior which lends itself well to be an ideal transport for wheelchair passengers. The bucket velour seats are wide and soft with plenty of legroom. The rear seats are incredibly simple to operate.

With full electrical component features the Alphard has all the extras you’d expect - power windows, mirrors, dual AC, a second row passenger side power door (operational from a button on the dash), interior ‘mood’ lighting (again – from a button on the dash). Reverse Camera and CD player (check out all the features listed below), ultra soft quality seats and carpets.

Of all the things that are impressive about the Alphard our clients are mostly amazed by its quiet motor and handling - especially on the highway. They also tell us they enjoy sitting up above the traffic so their vision is greatly increased along with their feeling of safety for themselves and their wheelchair passenger.

Toyota Alphard Wheelchair Feature

When inside the car, Original Engineered and Manufactured (OEM) retractable belts and wire cables safely and securely lock the wheelchair in place for safe motoring. At the push of a button the belts and wire cables lock the wheelchair into a fixed position so the wheelchair is extremely safe.

We also fit International standard ‘Q-Straints’ or similar to each car to meet Australian Design Regulations (ADR’s) when required. This gives you an additional method to further secure your wheelchair for your safety. In our opinion local aftermarket conversions simply cannot match the standards, resources, vehicle knowledge, and manufacturing quality of Toyota. That’s why Toyota’s welcab vehicles are so superior.

$23,800
This 2013 Spade with only 50,000 km on the clock is an extraordinary little vehicle which will make the world of difference to a family or a couple who have a person who struggles to get in and out of a car or for somebody with limited walking capabilities. In our experience many couples have had their lives changed by these vehicles. They have discovered a new freedom which had been denied to them. This car is particularly wonderful because the front passenger seat is a transfer seats to help those that have trouble getting in and out of cars or for people that use walkers, scooter or wheelchairs.

The Spade is the Welcab (wheelchair and mobility vehicle) version to the Toyota Yaris. The interior is a tasteful dark grey, brown and cream with hints of orange. About This Car

The Toyota Spade and Porte have quickly become one of our most popular compact wheelchair access car because, according to customer feedback, clients love that they can actually travel in the front passenger seat with the driver beside them.

What’s really cool is the large sliding door on the passenger side. It makes transferring in and out of the car a breeze. Add to that the compact size, great overall visibility, ease of use and excellent economy, it’s an excellent choice if bigger isn’t always better for you. It’s the perfect size for up to 4 passengers plus the person in a wheelchair.

Wheelchair Accessible Feature

Without exception, clients are amazed the first time they witness the incredible engineering of the Toyota Spade mobility feature. This car has an OEM - Original Equipment Manufactured - power transfer chair fitted into the passenger seat.

The transfer seat sits on an electric rotational arm which rotates, extends out of the vehicle and lowers just above ground level to make transferring in and out of the passenger side easier. The chair then swivels back up and in to the seating easily by remote.

Wheelchair & Car Dimensions

The powered passenger door opens to a remarkable 1165mm tall and 1020mm wide making it an excellent size for a wheelchair. Until we saw our first Toyota Porte (Spade) we couldn’t believe how much access you genuinely get with this intelligently designed sliding door.

Once you see the Alphard in action you will be amazed at how the remote controlled ramp lowers and folds out at the same time making it so much easier for the wheelchair passenger to get in and out of the car.

We know you might balk at buying a vehicle like this that has done 162,000 km but rest assured - we've seen these vehicles travel extremely well with much more mileage than that. Plus we offer these vehicles because we know they will suit a particular clients needs and budget. Sometimes it represents extremely smart buying to buy an older vehicle like this with higher kms that has been very well looked after, serviced well and is just $25,800 than to stretch your budget on a vehicle with less mileage which may not have been looked after very well and doesn't carry the ultra reliable Toyota brand.

Of all the admirable qualities of the Alphard our clients are mostly surprised and then impressed by its quiet motor and handling - especially driving on the highway. They also tell us they enjoy sitting up above the traffic so their vision is greatly increased along with their feeling of safety for themselves and their wheelchair passenger.

With full electrical component features the Alphard has all the extras you’d expect - power windows, mirrors, dual AC, a second row passenger side power door (operational from a button on the dash), interior ‘mood’ lighting (again – from a button on the dash). Scroll down and take a look at this car's extra Details, Features and Optional Extras.

Toyota Alphard Wheelchair Feature

The Toyota Alphard is specially designed in factory by Toyota’s engineers and they are built with a welcab feature such as a sloper, a transfer chair or a transfer wheelchair. That means: they create the welcab feature in the vehicle while producing the vehicle at the same time.

That's why the wheelchair ramp fits so perfectly within the rear of the vehicle. It barely takes up any space whatsoever and there is never a problem with the rear door not being able to close on the ramp like you have in after market modified vehicles - we know about this problem because some of our clients have brought these cars here to be fixed.

This Alphard is a sloper – it is named after the hydraulic sloping mechanism in the rear of the vehicle. As the car lowers an electric ramp unfolds at the same time. The aluminium ramp touches the ground at a 9 to 12 degree angle allowing a gentle incline for the wheelchair person to then drive or be pushed into the rear of the vehicle.
Understand also that even though the wheelchair occupant is in the rear these cars are designed to carry a passenger in the rear so the suspension is excellent and the ride will be comfortable.

When inside the car, Original Engineered and Manufactured (OEM) retractable belts and Q Straints safely and securely lock the wheelchair in place for safe motoring.

In our opinion local aftermarket conversions simply cannot match the standards, resources, vehicle knowledge, and manufacturing quality of Toyota. That’s why Toyota’s welcab vehicles are such a comfortable and affordable alternative.

Toyota Alphard Engine, Economy & Reliability

The 2.4L 4 Cylinder 2AZ-FE engine is an ultra-reliable motor consuming only 10 L/100km highway driving. These are excellent numbers considering the size and comfort the Alphard offers.

Our trade mark spiel for all our cars is; 'Toyota engines are world renown for their longevity and reliability which is why it’s the main brand we now stock. It is also a reason why Toyota has a long history of being the largest selling manufacturer in the world. If you’re after reliability for your wheelchair vehicle, you’re after a Toyota Welcab – it really is that simple.'

Pricing of our factory built Japanese Toyota and Nissan wheelchair vehicles is always lower than the European brands and also lower than the locally modified vans available here. Much continuous research and development is constantly being done on the factory built vehicles and they are also cheap to run and maintain.

Toyota Alphard Wheelchair Feature

The Toyota Alphard is specially designed in factory by Toyota’s engineers and they are built with a welcab feature such as a sloper, a transfer chair or a transfer wheelchair.

This Alphard is a sloper – it is named after the hydraulic sloping mechanism in the rear of the vehicle. As the car lowers an electric ramp unfolds at the same time. The lightweight yet strong aluminium ramp touches the ground at a 9 to 12 degree angle allowing a gentle incline for the wheelchair occupant to be loaded into the car.
