2006 TOYOTA ALPHARD

Stock # 884
$35,500
A 2006 wine red 3L V6 Toyota Alphard Welcab sloper in great condition is the ideal car for those with a big family that has a loved one in a wheelchair as this Alphard has 4 fixed seats in the front with the wheelchair spot in the back or 7 seats when the wheelchair spot is not being used. These cars were designed to be easy to use, functional and comfort in mind and has double sun roofs which is a added bonus.

With full electrical component features the Alphard has all the extras you’d expect - power windows, mirrors, dual AC, second row passenger side power doors (operational from a button on the dash), interior ‘mood’ lighting (again – from a button on the dash). CD player, Reverse Camera just to name a few (check out all the features listed below).

Of all the things that are impressive about the Alphard our clients are mostly amazed by its quiet motor and handling - especially on the highway. They also tell us they enjoy sitting up above the traffic so their vision is greatly increased along with their feeling of safety for themselves and their wheelchair passenger.

Toyota Alphard Wheelchair Feature

The Toyota Alphard is specially designed in factory by Toyota’s engineers and they are built with a welcab feature such as a sloper, a transfer chair or a transfer wheelchair.

This Alphard is a sloper – it is named after the hydraulic sloping mechanism in the rear of the vehicle. As the car lowers an electric ramp unfolds at the same time. The lightweight yet strong aluminium ramp touches the ground at a 9 to 12 degree angle allowing a gentle incline for the wheelchair occupant to be loaded into the car.

When inside the car, Original Engineered and Manufactured (OEM) retractable belts and wire cables safely and securely lock the wheelchair in place for safe motoring. At the push of a button the belts and wire cables lock the wheelchair into a fixed position so the wheelchair is extremely safe.

We also fit International standard ‘Q-Straints’ or similar to each car to meet Australian Design Regulations (ADR’s) when required. This gives you an additional method to further secure your wheelchair for your safety.

In our opinion local aftermarket conversions simply cannot match the standards, resources, vehicle knowledge, and manufacturing quality of Toyota. That’s why Toyota’s welcab vehicles are so superior.

Wheelchair & Car Dimensions

Approximate Interior dimensions of the wheelchair seating position are as follows:
Wheelchair Spot: Height: 135 cm Length: 110 cm Width: 75 cm.

Overall Vehicle Dimensions
Height: 1935mm Length: 4865mm Width: 1830mm
Seating – 6 passengers + 1 wheelchair person

2012 TOYOTA PORTE

Stock # 870
$27,800
This 2012 "SELF DRIVE" Toyota Porte Welcab is a mobility vehicle that has hand controls for those who need them or can be driven like a regular car. This Porte has the unique feature of a wheelchair hoist in the car on the passenger side that can pick up and lower a manual wheelchair to make transferring that much easier.

About this Vehicle
The Porte is like the Welcab version of the Toyota Yaris and has quickly become our most popular compact wheelchair access car because, according to customer feedback, clients love that they can actually travel in the front or drive themselves in a small compact car that doesn't look or feel like a wheelchair car.

What’s really cool is the large sliding door on the passenger side. It makes transferring in and out of the car a breeze. Add to that the compact size, great overall visibility, ease of use and excellent economy, it’s an excellent choice if bigger isn’t always better for you. It’s the perfect size for up to 3 passengers in the back plus the person in the drivers.

The powered passenger door opens to a remarkable 116.5cm tall and 102cm wide making it an excellent size for a wheelchair. Until we saw our first Toyota Porte, we couldn’t believe how much access you genuinely get with this intelligently designed sliding door.

There is a staggering overall internal height of 138cm. This is due to the cleverly designed flat floor and higher roofline for the factory wheelchair access versions.

Wheelchair & Car Dimensions
Overall Vehicle Dimensions:
Height: 172cm | Length: 399cm | Width: 169cm

There is a very handy boot space and the rear seats can easily fold down to provide even more space if required. Perfect for a weekend away or on a shopping spree (if you are that lucky!).

2018 NISSAN NV200

Stock # 859
$45,800
This vehicle meets the NDIS requirements for a pre existing modified vehicle being that it is under the 80,000 kms and 5 years of age stated in the NDIS guidelines. These specialised Nissan Lifecare vans are all custom made so they have different wheelchair accessibility features. This one boasts 5 seats plus a wheelchair spot in the rear. Being a van, they have plenty of interior room for passengers to move within. This is absolutely a plus for a wheelchair access vehicle especially if you’re travelling and need extra room for all the bits and bobs you may need to travel with.

Our clients often say it’s important for them to be able to see through the windows of a car easily - these vans have excellent vision for all within. Our clients have also expressed their surprise when discovering how easy the NV200 is to drive – the joy of powered steering means the van drives like a small car but with all the added space, versatility, visibility and comfort of a larger car that’s actually not that much bigger than a sedan (check out car measurements below).

About this Vehicle

This is a sleek 2018 black Nissan NV200 with a manual pull-out ramp and rear wheelchair spot. All restraints, ramp and wheelchair features of this van made in the Nissan factory in Japan by Nissan Lifecare which is the wheelchair and mobility vehicle range similar to Toyota Welcab. It seats 5 plus the wheelchair position in the rear. With only a verified 11,000 km on the dash (we have all paperwork) this NV200 is pretty much new.

Released by Nissan in 2009 and winning International Van of the Year in 2010. This new look NV200 has so much to offer: A large and functional interior space - the grab rails and seats can be taken out and put back in fairly easily. A stunning black exterior and a stylish modern shape. (Take a look at the photos and video above). We have also fitted this van with a new stereo system that has reverse camera, Bluetooth just to list a few things.

All this value in a car for a price that is less than the price of a local aftermarket ramp – amazing but true!

Wheelchair Features

The Vanette Life Care is a specialized version of NV200 Vanette with a wheelchair entrance at the rear. The Nissan engineers have created a simple and effective design where a wheelchair can be easily and safely loaded into what is essentially a small van.

An easy to pull out lightweight aluminium ramp is lowered onto the ground. Using the remote, retractable belts can be pulled out towards the ramp and attached to the wheelchair. The belts then aid in ‘pulling’ the wheelchair into the car. The chair is fastened in by the restraints. Once the first wheelchair is in the second can be loaded or that space used to house accessibility equipment that may be needed.

Wheelchair & Car Dimensions
Approximate interior dimensions of the wheelchair seating positions are as follows:
Height: 136-140cm | Length: 110cm | Width: 70-75cm

Wheelchair Dimensions:
Height: 140cm | Length: 107cm | Width: 66cm

It's very important that you measure the wheelchair person sitting in their wheelchair from ground level to the top of their head to ensure this vehicle is right for them.

Engine, Economy & Reliability

A 1.6L 4 Cylinder HR16DE petrol engine which travels approx 14km per litre which is good value motoring.

Toyota and Nissan engines are world renowned for their longevity and reliability which is why they are the main brands we now stock. As long as their car engines are well serviced, they are built to travel to 500,000 with ease. We’ve even seen a client’s Toyota with 1,000,000km on the clock and the car was still going strong!

The Voxy is one of our most popular wheelchair accessible cars. Clients often come looking for a small car but when they try the Voxy or Noah they are blown away by the space within the car, the ease of getting in and out of the car (especially for the wheelchair passenger) and how simple and effortless the car is to drive. It does however have a maximum capacity to seat 6 plus a wheelchair depending on the size of the wheelchair.

Thus, an optimal angle is created for the wheelchair person to easily navigate up the reduced incline.

This particular Voxy has a set of retractable belts which can be placed on the wheelchair when it is at the base of the ramp. These belts have an added safety feature – they will hold the wheelchair in place if the carer lets the wheelchair go. Rear cables tie the wheelchair or you can choose Q'Straints to lock the wheelchair in place for safe motoring. It is a great example of Toyota engineer’s commitment to producing Welcab features, which truly help make life easier for wheelchair passengers and their carers.
